About the Founder

Founder's Journey

Nakia is a visionary creator, author, lyricist, and artist who weaves story and emotion into every space she touches. A natural mentor since her first peer mentoring class in 2002, she’s spent her life helping others grow with integrity, empathy, and purpose.

A former student of Columbia College Chicago’s Fine Arts program for vocal performance and acting, Nakia blends creativity with grounded leadership—cultivating connection, authenticity, and depth in both her art and her work.

As a mother of three and lifelong student of human expression, she continues to create stories, experiences, and communities that remind people to slow down, listen deeply, and return to who they truly are.

Welcome — I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.

RaeOvSun began as a whisper, a quiet reminder that growth doesn’t always come from movement, but from presence. Over time, it evolved into a space for truth, leadership, and alignment — a home for those learning to lead without losing themselves in the process.

I’ve learned that transformation rarely arrives with fanfare. It unfolds in phases — asking us to listen before we act, to release before we rise. My own journey through these phases has shaped not only the work I do, but how I live, lead, and create.

The reflections that follow are not steps to be copied, but mirrors to be met — lessons in trust, stillness, and renewal that continue to remind me: every time we return to ourselves, we begin again in light.

Outlining the Phases

1THE ART OF EMPTYING

There comes a moment when holding on begins to ache.
When even the beautiful things feel heavy in the hands.
Emptying is not loss — it is trust.
It’s the breath before the inhale, the pause before the pulse.
This era teaches the elegance of release — unclenching from what once defined you, unlearning the need to rush toward what’s next.
You clear the room so your soul can hear itself again.
In the quiet, the self that was buried begins to hum.

Essence: Renewal through surrender.
Mantra: “I make space for what is ready to arrive.”

2THE STANDSTILL

Not everything grows in motion.
Stillness has its own rhythm — one that tests, exposes, and refines.
Here, time stretches thin enough for truth to surface.
You learn to sit with discomfort until it becomes dialogue,
to listen to what silence has been trying to say.
The Standstill is not punishment — it’s preparation.
It’s where clarity learns your name.

Essence: Patience as transformation.
Mantra: “Even when I am still, life moves within me.”

3THE RETURN ERA

After quiet, there is pulse.
The world begins to meet you where you’ve been waiting —
not because it changed, but because you did.
This is the season of remembering your own rhythm.
You return to the world not as who you were,
but as who you’ve become through the unmaking.
Confidence finds its home again in your skin.
What you touch, grows.
What you speak, echoes.

Essence: Reclamation and self-possession.
Mantra: “I return to myself — and nothing is missing.”

4FLOW

This is the dance — the open current after resistance.
You move without forcing.
You trust the tide because you’ve become it.
Flow is what happens when alignment stops being an idea
and becomes the language of your life.
There is ease here, but not idleness.
Movement guided by inner current.
A return to joy as navigation, not reward.

Essence: Alignment embodied.
Mantra: “I move with life, not against it.”
