The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchinson
Another business trip left me enraptured with this title, The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchinson. This novel was definitely unexpected and kept me plugged in from the very first page. The more that the mystery unravels the more you want to know. Where are these girls being kept? What is their expiration date? What happens to them when that date is met? Oh my God, but why?
This is the type of novel that you expect to one day see on the silver screen. You cast it in your mind as it plays out. I am in awe of the tenacity of the story’s heroine and I know that if I were in her place I would have cracked but her backstory makes it understandable. Her resilience, her detachment, all of it plays so well into where she ends up and what she does to survive.
I want to write so much more about this novel but the thing of it is, is that it just needs to be read. I don’t want to say too much and include any spoilers. If you’re into stories like Silence of the Lambs – yes that is what I am equating this to – then this may be up your alley. This is an absolute jewel.
